Another sad day

And just to prove that these things always go in threes, I found Stotious the snail upside down in his tank today. Actually, he'd been upside down for most of the week, and I was watching to see if anything might change. A light sniff of the shell opening confirmed the worst.

Wardrobe still seems to be going strong, and getting bigger all the time. It's probably for the best his diminutive friend is gone - snails being hermaphrodite, keeping two of them inevitably means more will appear in time.
It's spring now - certainly the beech trees think so - can we have some good news for a change?

Btw, not to be gallows humor, but that photo of Stotious the snail still looks like a lunch plate to me. ;-) (yeah, go ahead and kick me. I guess I'm due for making that comment!)
